Whenever there comes a situation when you cannot format and create a partition from the GUI window during the installation of Windows OS.
Then there is the option for formatting and creating partitions using CMD before the windows Installation.
Today I am here with the new post to teach you about formatting Hard Disks using CMD.
To Format a Hard Disk Follow the following Procedure:
- Boot from a Bootable pen drive or other storage devices where a Windows ISO file is present.
- Press Shift + F10 on the screen where the Install Windows Screen Appears.
- Open CMD or Powershell in Administrator Mode.
- Type the first diskpart command then enter it into Diskpart Program.
- Type the following command and wait for the execution of the command.
- List Disk: This command list the available disk in your computer.
- Select Disk #no: This command helps to select your disk and here #no means enter the disk number you want to select For example: select disk 1
- Clean: This command permanently erases/destroys all data on the selected drive
- create partition primary: This command makes disk partitions, volumes on a single disk or multiple disks, and virtual hard disks.
- format fs=ntfs (you can replace NTFS with FAT32 or other file systems)
- assign: This command assigns a drive label letter to your disk
